The Reds acquired right-hander Brian Van Belle from the Red Sox on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations.
The 28-year-old was designated for assignment on June 11. He posted a 5-1 record with a 2.29 ERA for Triple-A Worcester.
The Reds traded for Van Belle and assigned him to Triple-A Louisville. He's been playing in Triple-A for the better part of three seasons. Van Belle is 18-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 55 games (29 starts).
