The Toronto Blue Jays have had a collection of heroes so far in their postseason run. The American League Division Series has brought out the best in various players. Daulton Varsho is one of those guys.
In the recent thumping of the Yankees’ starting pitching and bullpen, Varsho has played a huge part in the festivities. His breakout game in the ALDS was Game Two in Toronto. He went four for five with two doubles, two home runs, four RBIs, and four runs scored.
Varsho recorded a phenomenal 12 total bases, setting a Blue Jays postseason franchise record. Combined through the first three games, he has 16 total bases, seven runs, seven hits, three doubles, and two home runs. Further to that history, Varsho also becomes the first player in MLB history to record five extra-base hits within the first two consecutive games of a postseason.

It’s important to understand the type of player Varsho is. The Blue Jays outfielder has flashed his power on various occasions, making that tool obvious. For the most part, he’s a gap-to-gap hitter with a contact-type stroke, putting the ball in play, and working the whole field.
He has good eye levels, and he’s able to adjust to pitch-type changes. Varsho understands what a two-strike approach is and when to take something off his swing to protect. Varsho’s very adaptable and will do what’s needed to make plays.
What have the Blue Jays done to be successful so far this postseason? They make contact, they force defensive effort, which could lead to an error. The Jays have been pushing runners, scoring on the small ball, and executing strategy. This is everything that Varsho offers and even a little more, as he can also hit for power when needed.
In the 2025 regular season, Varsho recorded 248 at-bats, 43 runs scored, 59 hits, 20 home runs, and 55 RBIs. He’s slashed a .238/.284/.832. His defence has been impeccable all year long. The outfielder proudly states that his athletic role model is Kobe Bryant. Varsho plays with grit and heart, similar to the Mamba Mentality.
