Dodgers Free Agency News Emerges on Tuesday

The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding high into the MLB offseason after winning their second straight World Series title in 2025. The Dodgers got a slew of incredible performances in the postseason from stars like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell en route to the ninth championship in franchise history.

While a strength of manager Dave Roberts' team this past season was the starting pitching, with Yamamoto, Ohtani and Snell leading the way in the playoffs, Los Angeles' bullpen struggled throughout the year.

In the 2025 regular season, the Dodgers' bullpen had a combined 4.14 ERA and converted just 46 of 73 save opportunities.

Before the season, the Dodgers thought they had bolstered the back end of their bullpen by signing All-Star closer Tanner Scott to a four-year, $72 million contract. However, Scott didn't turn out as planned, as he finished the season with a 4.74 ERA, his worst since 2021, and blew 10 saves.

Scott also missed the entire postseason with a lower-body injury. With questions being asked about the Dodgers' bullpen heading into 2026, free agent closer Devin Williams was linked to Los Angeles on Tuesday.

"Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes affirmed Tuesday that the Dodgers could sign a reliever as they ramp up for a potential three-peat," The Athletic reporter Fabian Ardaya said. "Candidates include at least one familiar target already clear at this week's annual general managers' meetings in Las Vegas, sources said: two-time All-Star reliever Devin Williams."

Williams spent the 2025 season with the New York Yankees after playing the first six years of his major-league career with the Milwaukee Brewers. He is coming off a season of struggles, as he posted a 4.79 ERA in 67 appearances for the Yankees.

While the 31-year-old had a rough 2025, if the Dodgers sign him, they will be hoping for a return to form from Williams, who won two National League Reliever of the Year Awards with the Brewers.
