Having communication in Major League Baseball is an important thing, something Alex Cora of the Boston Red Sox has been able to do with his players.
While some have called for Cora's job in recent weeks due to the Red Sox not playing at the level they've been hoping for, Cora understands what it takes to play at the highest level. For starter Garrett Crochet, that meant a lot to him on Sunday when he was able to throw 112 pitches and throw in the 7th inning.
“A hundred pitches is this big thing because 100 is a big number, but I was feeling really good, still, even at that pitch count,” said Crochet, per MassLive. “It was nice to have the communication we had and for me to go get the job done.
“It felt pretty cool to do it and then punch the side there in the seventh.”
Hearing Crochet say that he was happy that there was communication between the two is a positive sign.
The Red Sox have been all over the place as a team, sitting at 29-32. However, there seems to be some trust in Cora, and that's always ideal. The last thing the Red Sox front office needs is for their team to quit on their head coach.
It was another dominant showing for Crochet on Sunday, quieting the Braves' bats.
Atlanta, despite being 27-31, is typically one of the top teams in Major League Baseball.
Their offense has been rough at times, but this is still a very deep lineup, and Crochet's excellence in the decider shows the type of arm that Boston has in its rotation.
