The San Francisco Giants’ struggles this season have led many to believe that they may end up selling at the MLB trade deadline. While the Giants are not expected to trade players such as Rafael Devers or Matt Chapman, they could look to move multiple veterans. Infielder Luis Arraez is among the players who could be traded. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic recently linked Arraez to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a recent article.

“Among the left-handed hitters who might be available and potentially could fit the DBacks’ desired profile: The San Francisco Giants’ Luis Arraez; Cardinals’ Lars Nootbaar, Tigers’ Zack McKinstry; and Colorado Rockies’ TJ Rumfield and Troy Johnston,” Rosenthal wrote.

Arraez is one of the best contact hitters in the sport. He does not hit the ball especially hard, but he also rarely strikes out. In today’s MLB, power hitting is among the most valuable skills a player can have. With that being said, players such as Arraez still provide value.

The 29-year-old is currently hitting .322/364/.430. The three-time All-Star would give the Diamondbacks another reliable left-handed hitter in the lineup. He would also boost the team’s infield depth.

Arraez may draw interest from multiple teams if the Giants do indeed make him available for a trade. At 24-38, San Francisco is in fourth place in the National League West standings. Meanwhile, Arizona is 32-29 and in third place in the standings. Division rivals do not always make trades with one another, but the Diamondbacks potentially acquiring Luis Arraez from the Giants could make sense.
