When the Los Angeles Dodgers are playing baseball the way everybody knows they can, they're the best team in the league.
The Dodgers, who sit at 36-23, are one of the best teams that baseball has ever seen.
However, the Dodgers have been derailed by injuries, both on the mound and in the rotation.
And despite how ugly it's been for the Dodgers at times with their injuries, and not playing the baseball they've wanted to in recent months, they still sit at 36-22.
The Dodgers took it to the Yankees in the first two games of a three-game set in Los Angeles. They came back against the Yankees in Game 1, winning 8-5, and blew them off the field in Game 2, winning 18-2 behind Max Muncy and his seven RBI day.
Los Angeles dropped the final game of the series.
For some, this series was a concerning sign for the Yankees, including Jon Heyman of the New York Post, who wrote that if the Yankees make it back to the World Series, they have to hope that they don't face the Dodgers, adding that whatever scouting report they have, needs to be thrown out the window.
“If the Yankees somehow make it back to the World Series, they have to hope it’s not a rematch.
“We don’t need that prescient Dodgers pre-World Series scouting report — you know, the one that predicted implosion for the Yankees — to understand why the Dodgers felt so confident back then. Just look at that damn scoreboard,” he wrote.
The Yankees are an excellent team, but the Dodgers have had their number in recent years.
If the Yankees don't improve over the next few months, there's a very good chance Los Angeles could be on top of the baseball world once again.
That looks to be a potential rematch, but next time, it’ll have to go better for the Yankees if they want to beat the star-studded Dodgers squad.
