Nolan McLean has had a phenomenal start to his MLB career with the New York Mets. He is currently undefeated in his first three games. While it is a small sample size, if he continues to be dominant, could he end up being the ace for the Mets in the future?
McLean so far looks like a star since he has been called up. In his three starts for the Mets, he has a 3-0 record with a .89 ERA in 20.1 innings. After just these three starts, it looks like he has solidified his spot in this rotation and potentially start a playoff game if the Mets make it. Instead of maybe going for an ace in the offseason, maybe McLean is the ace the Mets have been looking for.
After that third win, where McLean went eight shutout innings against the Philadelphia Phillies, he made history. He became the first Met ever to win his first three starts. It is shocking to think that McLean did something that Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, or Nolan Ryan couldn’t even do. At just 24 years old, could Nolan end up being the franchise ace for the Mets for the next decade or will he end up being a fluke?
With Nolan McLean’s lightning-fast start, it’s interesting to see what his role for the Mets will be in the future. Will he stay in the rotation? Will he be the ace soon? So many questions for this young man’s future. It will be interesting to see if McLean can continue his dominance in his next start when he faces the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.
