Ketel Marte spotted at casino during Diamondbacks game

Ketel Marte is spending some time at the casino while away from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Video emerged Friday night showing Marte at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz. while his teammates were facing the Cincinnati Reds. Marte could be seen walking around and playing playing games in photos taken by fans.

Marte is on the injured list with a knee issue, so he was not necessarily expected to be at the park with his teammates. Some fans were critical, however, of Marte being so detached from his team while they are in the midst of a playoff race.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo downplayed the situation, saying that Marte was free to do what he wanted in his downtime as long as he was completing his daily rehab tasks.

It has been a bizarre week for Marte, who essentially went missing last Monday when the Diamondbacks were in Boston. Once the Diamondbacks had located Marte and knew he was safe, they were justifiably angry with their second baseman.

The Diamondbacks did not need Marte on Friday. They beat the Reds 9-0 and sit one game out of the final National League Wild Card spot.
