Mariners’ 2026 Spring Training NRI Includes Anderson, Emerson

The Seattle Mariners announced their list of 2026 Spring Training non-roster invite players on January 30. Seattle will bring several of their past first-round picks to big league camp, including pitcher Kade Anderson and infielder Colt Emerson.

The prospects

Almost all of the Mariners’ top prospects not on the 40-man roster will be with the big club.

Colt Emerson, arguably the best prospect in Seattle’s system, is one of the headliners. Across three levels, Emerson slashed .285/.383/.458 with 16 home runs and 50 extra-base hits over 130 contests.

A middle infielder with power is going to garner a lot of interest and watching eyes. Emerson handled advanced competition well, although how he got there was interesting. The 20-year-old made consistent contact enough and walked a lot in High-A.

However, one interesting note is that while Emerson took a lot of walks, he was willing to swing the bat often. His take rate (53.7%) was roughly league median in the Northwest League. And unsurprisingly, over 70% of his takes resulted in a ball.

Aside from Emerson, the Mariners are bringing Michael Arroyo, Lazaro Montes, and Jonny Farmelo, three of Seattle’s high-end hitting talent.

Farmelo has missed a lot of time since he was drafted but has flashed power. Montes is among the Minors’ most egregious swing-and-miss hitters right now. But on the other hand, he also has the best power. Arroyo, as we noted in our Mariners farm review, had a breakout year.

Seattle will also bring Jurrangelo Cijntje and Ryan Sloan, two pitchers taken in Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft. Cijntje had an up-and-down first pro season but performed well overall. Sloan, meanwhile, was one of the best swing-and-miss pitchers in Low-A and is arguably Seattle’s second-best pitching prospect at the moment.

Other notables include funky right-hander Tyler Cleveland, Michael Morales, Austin Kitchen, Teddy McGraw, Charlie Beilenson, Nick Davila, plus hitters Spencer Packard, Jared Sundstrom, Victor Labrada, Blake Rambusch, Connor Charping, Josh Caron, and Nick Raposo.

Additionally, 2025 first-rounders Kade Anderson and Luke Stevenson will be with the MLB team to start camp.

Stevenson, a power-hitting catcher, did get his feet wet professionally last season and played well with Modesto. Anderson, the second overall pick last July, didn’t, as he was shut down after he helped LSU win its second national title in three years.

Other notables

With Logan Evans done for 2026 thanks to UCL reconstruction surgery, the Mariners will have one notable non-roster option on hand should none of their 40-man options work: Dane Dunning.

Dunning spent years with division rival Texas, where he won the World Series in 2023. The 31-year-old, who won 12 games that season, split last season between the Rangers and Braves.

Randy Dobnak, Casey Lawrence, Guilo Zuniga, and Michael Rucker are among the other pitchers with past MLB experience on the Mariners’ non-roster list.

As for the hitters, former Cubs prospect Brennen Davis will be with the M’s. He’ll be joined by infielder & former first-round pick Will Wilson, ex-Phillies prospect Carson Taylor, and catchers Brian O’Keefe and Jakson Reetz.

Patrick Wisdom, who played in Korea last season, will also be with the Mariners this spring. Wisdom signed a Minor League deal with Seattle earlier this month.
