Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Logan Gilbert (1-1, 2.37 ERA) is the type of player that playoff teams rely on. The 28-year-old notched a 3.23 ERA in 33 starts last season, a 3.73 ERA across 32 starts in 2023, and a 3.20 ERA over 32 starts in 2022.
Gilbert allowed two runs or less in five of his six starts this season before going down with an elbow injury. The 6-foot-6-inch, 215-pounder left his start against the Miami Marlins on April 25 after three innings due to the ailment.
However, Gilbert made an encouraging statement for Seattle fans before the club's bout with the Cleveland Guardians on Friday night, via The Seattle Times' Adam Jude.
The veteran hurler said that he expects to return to the Mariners' rotation in a few days.
That statement came after Seattle selected right-handed reliever Zach Pop from Triple-A Tacoma and optioned right-hander Logan Evans (3-2, 3.38 ERA) to Tacoma, via the team's PR.
