The Minnesota Twins acquired right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton from the Miami Marlins on Thursday in exchange for minor league right-hander Logan Whitaker.
Acton, 27, was recently designated for assignment by Miami to make room on the roster for shortstop Leo Jimenez, acquired from Toronto in a trade earlier this week.
Acton played in two games for Triple-A Jacksonville before being DFA'd, racking up 2 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and one walk.
He has made seven major league appearances: six for the Oakland Athletics (2023) and one last year for the Tampa Bay Rays. He's given up eight runs with five strikeouts and seven walks in 6 2/3 innings at the MLB level.
Whitaker, 25, split 2025 between High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita, posting a combined 4-0 record and 2.11 ERA across 25 appearances.
