MLB best bets: You'll want to slam this Yanks-Rays SGP

We've had to wait over a month for our first glimpse of Rays vs. Yankees, but it's finally here.

Are we surprised where both teams sit in the standings? Absolutely. The Rays hold the best record in baseball at 26-6 and the Yankees are dead last in the AL East at 17-15. Who would have thought that's where both teams would be five days into May?

Baseball is a crazy game, and two things are currently true: the Rays are rolling, and the Yankees are struggling to score without Aaron Judge.

And with the Yankees desperately searching for answers offensively, we found the perfect SGP for Friday's series opener. It revolves around total runs and the runline. We usually aim for even odds or better when it comes to our SGP, but -115 is still good enough.

The Yankees are the best team in baseball against the under and the Rays haven't allowed more than three runs in a game in five of their last six games, so we're taking the under of 12.5 runs with the utmost confidence. New York hasn't scored more than four runs in a game in over a week and better yet, has covered the under of 12.5 runs in six of its last seven games. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has covered the under of 12.5 runs in three straight games and have the best pitching staff in  baseball.

As for our second leg, we're taking the Rays +1.5 on the runline. New York looks lost right now without Judge, and don't be surprised if the Yanks fail to score more than two runs against the Rays on Friday. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has had no problem winning ... close games, blowouts, high scoring, low scoring, you name it, the Rays can beat you in so many ways.

We thought about taking Tampa Bay on the moneyline, but considering the Yankees were 11-8 against Tampa Bay last year, it's best to take them +1.5 on the runline. To top it off, Yankees starter Jhony Brito hasn't made it past the fifth inning in any start this year, so even if Tampa Bay doesn't get to Brito, don't be surprised if they get to the Yankees bullpen that has been used a ton already this year.

To complete our SGP, we're taking the Rays to score at least three runs in Friday's series opener. Similar to the first leg of our SGP, this one should hit fairly easily, too. Tampa Bay leads the majors in runs and has scored three runs or more in seven straight games and 12 of its last 14. Tampa Bay leads the majors in just about every offensive stat, so don't be surprised if this leg hits by the third or fourth inning. The Rays are dangerous, especially at home. So, trust us, they're pretty much a lock to score three runs.

The SGP: Tampa Rays (+1.5 Runs), Tampa Bay Rays (over 2.5 Runs) and New York Yankees/Tampa Bay Rays (under 12.5 runs) (-115 odds via DraftKings)
