The Detroit Tigers have been the talk of the MLB world in the first half of the 2025 MLB season with their strong play on the heels of a playoff season in 2024.
The Tigers have an MLB best 46 wins on the season headed toward July's All-Star Break and appear poised to win their first Central Division title since 2014.
On Monday, one of the Tigers' unsung heroes, Gleyber Torres, received a surprising update from Major League Baseball as the league revealed the latest big news update on Detroit' dependable and efficient second baseman.
The MLB shared that Torres leads the All-Star voting among second basemen, outpacing Baltimore's Jackson Holliday by over 85,000 votes.
Third place currently is occupied by Astros legend Jose Altuve, who has over 440,000 votes in the race.

The Caracas, Venezuela native Torres is hitting .276 with seven home runs and 34 RBI for the Tigers this season after spending the first seven years of his career in New York with the Yankees.
He has 10 doubles and 60 hits in 217 at-bats for manager AJ Hinch's team, with an on-base percentage of .377.
The Tigers dropped two of three games in their weekend series with the Reds and are now set to host the Pittsburgh Pirates for a three-game set at Comerica Park, followed by three games in Tampa Bay against the Rays.
Detroit will close out the month of June with three home games against the Athletics and three home games against Twins as Hinch's team looks to continue its winning ways in the Motor City.
