The Seattle Mariners almost made it to the World Series last season. The franchise was on the edge of breaking their curse. However, the Toronto Blue Jays shattered their dreams in the ALCS. Sadly, the Mariners are not looking to be the same contenders this season.

The club has shown signs of struggle, and top-performing players from last season have been in a brutal slump. The good news is that the Seattle Mariners managed to turn things around after their slump, as the team now sits at the top of the AL West.

They have a great chance to win, but they need more than their current squad to make it to the World Series. That said, they might be able to create a huge upset by picking the best.

Skubal is rehabbing at the moment, but the Detroit Tigers might part ways with the reigning Cy Young winner. With the team’s current situation and Skubal’s contract ending, it makes sense for the Tigers to consider trading their ace.

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller linked the Seattle Mariners to Skubal. Miller thinks it’s possible given the team’s urgency and situation.

Well, why not the Seattle Mariners? Bold 2026 MLB Trade Deadline Predictions with 2 Months to Go. “The urgency to swing big for a rental is surely there. They made major investments/trades this past offseason, and this is their last year with Randy Arozarena and J.P. Crawford, as well as their next-to-last season with Logan Gilbert. The window won’t stay open forever,” Miller wrote.

While it might seem to be impossible right now, Miller’s words make a lot of sense. The Mariners have another chance to win before they start losing players to free agency. Skubal will be the ultimate weapon and the missing piece for the team. Seattle Mariners fans will be thrilled to have such a move. However, only time would tell if they could make it work.
