NRFI, YRFI MLB Bets Today: Best First Inning Predictions for Tuesday, June 2
Peter Aiken-Imagn Images

We're back to a full slate for Tuesday with some intriguing matchups to select from. We like two NRFIs and a lone YRFI from Tuesday's MLB action.

There's a steady dose of young studs starting, and few have been better than New York Yankees RHP Cam Schlittler. He has a good matchup against the Cleveland Guardians. LHP Kyle Harrison looks to keep his breakout season going against the San Francisco Giants, and we like the YRFI in the Detroit Tigers vs. Tampa Bay Rays matchup.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Cleveland Guardians at New York Yankees NRFI (-115)

The Guardians turn to LHP Joey Cantillo Tuesday, and the first inning is one of his best innings. He has just a 2.25 ERA in the opening frame in 12 starts. Young Yankees hurler Cam Schlittler goes for the pinstripes. He's 7-2 with a 1.50 ERA on the season, and he has allowed just one run in the first inning through 12 starts.

Detroit Tigers at Tampa Bay Rays YRFI (+105)

The YRFI cashed in this matchup on Monday, and we like it again today. RHP Jack Flaherty and his 5.25 first-inning ERA goes for the Tigers. He's 0-7 with a 5.81 ERA in disastrous season. On the other side, LHP Steven Matz goes for Tampa. His first-inning numbers are a little skewed after he allowed five ER in his last start, but he has still allowed 10 ER in nine first innings.

San Francisco Giants at Milwaukee Brewers NRFI (-165)

Giants RHP Trevor McDonald makes his sixth start of the season. He's 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA on the season. However, he has been nails in the first inning, allowing just one earned run and a .167 opponents' batting average. Brewers LHP Kyle Harrison has been one of the best pitchers in the game at 6-1 with a 1.57 ERA. He has a 1.80 ERA in the first inning through 10 starts.

What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
