Orioles Add Tommy Pham on Minor League Deal

Prior to the start of this season, Pham agreed to a minor league deal with the New York Mets and was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse. After playing four minor league games in Syracuse, the Mets selected the 36-year-old's contract on April 12.

His second stint with the Mets did not pan out, going 0-for-13 at the plate. The veteran was ultimately designated for assignment on April 26 and elected free agency after clearing waivers.

Pham will now join his 11th different team over his 13-year career and is likely heading to Triple-A Norfolk, hoping to make a strong impression for the Orioles.

Baltimore's disappointing start to its season has been largely due to the mounting injuries on its roster. Ryan Mountcastle is on the 60-day injured list with a fractured left foot, Jackson Holliday has yet to make his season debut after undergoing hamate bone surgery on his right hand, Dylan Beavers has a right oblique strain and Heston Kjerstad is nursing a hamstring strain. The O's also most recently announced that Jordan Westburg would undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery due to a partially torn UCL.

The Orioles currently sit in third place in the American League East at 20-25 and will continue their Beltway Series against the Washington Nationals this afternoon.
