The Philadelphia Phillies are ready to ship Nick Castellanos, and it can happen in the next five days. Phillies President Dave Dombrowski made it clear that the franchise wants to part ways with Castellanos.

The slugger’s outfield issues and unpleasant situation with manager Rob Thompson put him in a tough spot. Additionally, the Phillies want to unload Nick Castellanos’ $20 million. It’s an awkward situation for Castellanos right now as the team’s position players will report for their first workout on Monday.

At present, Nick Castellanos is on the team’s 40-man roster, but Dombrowski mentioned that he’s ready to move him by Monday.

“We’re doing everything we can to make a move by (Monday). I’ll leave it at that right now.” Dombrowski said.

The president also stated that they are constantly in talks with several other teams. Nick Castellanos will find a team, but one thing is certain: he’s not going back to Philly.

Nick Castellanos Could Get A Short-Term Contract

The Phillies want to unload Castellanos’ $20 million, and not many teams will be ready to give him a long-term deal. Castellanos slashed .250 with 17 home runs and 72 RBIs. The Phillies have also parted ways with Harrison Bader.

Adolis García signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the team in December to take over right field. That said, they seem to have their outfield issues sorted. Nick Castellanos’ position has become redundant right now, and the Phillies are just waiting for the right offer.

As many speculate, Philadelphia will get rid of Castellanos with the first offer they receive. The Phillies might have to cover a part of Castellanos’ contract even if they trade him. Unless they find a team that’s ready to pay him the $20 million he’s owed for the 2026 season.
