Phillies Trade Idea Sends Alec Bohm to AL Contender for Ideal Return

The Philadelphia Phillies will have some questions to answer at the trade deadline. Whether they look to buy and sell some remains to be seen, but there could be a scenario where the Phillies aim to improve while also trading a player or two from their lineup.

After an offseason of rumors surrounding Alec Bohm, it might be possible that the Phillies would move on from him if they got a package they loved in return.

For a team as good as the Phillies, who look to be in a position to compete for a World Series, they can never use enough arms.

If they want to move on from Bohm, they have to find a replacement at their base, but they could also look to add another starter.

Looking at potential options for teams around the league, Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently linked Bohm to the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners need a corner infielder, and with their surplus of young, talented arms, there's reason to believe there could potentially be a trade to be made with Philadelphia, even if it means the Phillies have to move on from another prospect or big league player.

“Possible targets: Eugenio Suárez, Diamondbacks; Josh Naylor, Diamondbacks; Yandy Díaz, Rays; Alec Bohm, Phillies; Ben Rice, Yankees; Ryan Mountcastle, Orioles; Coby Mayo, Orioles; Ryan O’Hearn, Orioles; Nathaniel Lowe, Nationals,” he wrote.

The Mariners are a tough team to evaluate. There have been times throughout the past few years when they've looked to be an excellent squad, but their offense typically struggles.

That's been the case for them again over their past 10 games, going 3-7. 4.5 games behind in the American League West, the Mariners need to get a move on if they want to compete in the postseason.
