The Tampa Bay Rays announced on Monday that outfielder Austin Meadows is on the roster for the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees that begins Monday evening.
As Joon Lee wrote for ESPN, Meadows hasn't played since Sept. 17 due to a Grade 2 left oblique strain. It was feared that he could miss the entire postseason.
Meadows, a one-time All-Star, hit 33 home runs with 89 RBI during the 2019 season. He never reclaimed that form this summer, however, and he was batting .205 with four homers, 13 RBI and 50 strikeouts across 36 games before he was sidelined last month.
In a corresponding roster move, Tampa Bay removed infielder Nate Lowe from its series roster.
