After a rainy and upsetting weekend, the Arizona Diamondbacks will return to the desert for a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners.
Arizona was coming off of a sweep in Atlanta, soon right after though the Diamondbacks found themselves on the opposite end in Cincinnati. Zac Gallen gave up four earned runs on six hits in 6.2 innings pitched along with giving up three home runs, and the D-Backs’ bats just didn’t show up.
This past weekend was a frustrating one as the rain delays and inconsistent play took a toll on this ball club. Arizona couldn’t get anything going in Cincinnati as the Reds swept them. This ball club can be dangerous if they can string hits together, it’s just a matter of executing.
Merrill Kelly will get the start for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. He will look to build off of his last marvelous outing as Kelly pitched seven scoreless innings with only allowing one hit. Kelly currently has a 6-2 record with a 3.43 ERA and has been one of Arizona’s most stable pitchers this season.
Emerson Hancock will start this series off for the Seattle Mariners. His 2-2 record and 5.19 ERA shows that he is hittable though in his last two outings, he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs and two hits, though he didn’t last long as he was taken out before the sixth inning.
Arizona looks to put this past weekend in the rearview and focus on the series ahead. It has been an up-and-down rollercoaster of a season so far, maybe returning home will help the Snakes settle in. First pitch tonight at Chase Field is at 6:40 p.m. PT.
