The Colorado Rockies are going to be without one of their left-handed starting pitchers for at least the next two months.
Thomas Harding of MLB.com reported Thursday that the Rockies are transferring Jose Quintana to the 60-day injured list with a left elbow sprain. Quintana was initially placed on the 15-day IL on Tuesday but will not need to undergo surgery.
The #Rockies are placing LHP Jose Quintana on the 60-day injured list with a left elbow sprain. MRI results revealed a sprain that does not require surgery. Additionally, the club activated RHP Jeff Criswell from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A @ABQTopes.

This move comes after the veteran lefty allowed six earned runs in just 1.1 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday before leaving the game with an apparent injury.
Colorado signed Quintana to a one-year, $6 million deal in the offseason. Despite being placed on the IL with a right hamstring strain following his first start of the season against the Miami Marlins on March 29, he was able to return after a three-week absence.
In nine starts this season, the 37-year-old owns a 2-3 record with a 5.27 ERA, 20 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.51 across 41 innings of work. Quintana will now miss at least the next two months, adding another blow to the Rockies' injury-riddled rotation.
The Rockies are already without Chase Dollander, who was placed on the 15-day IL on May 15 with a right elbow sprain. There is still no timetable for his return.
In a corresponding move, the Rockies have activated right-hander Jeff Criswell (Tommy John surgery) from the 60-day IL and are optioning him to Triple-A Albuquerque. Colorado also inked a minor-league deal with reliever John Brebbia, who was recently let go by the Minnesota Twins after struggling in the minor leagues.
