Happy 37th birthday to four-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger, 2017 World Series champion and MVP, George Springer!
Springer made his Big League debut in 2014 with the Houston Astros, and was a key part of the squad that turned into a (somewhat controversial) juggernaut in the American League. In his seven seasons as an Astro, he hit .270 with 174 home runs and 458 RBI, leaving his most lasting mark in Houston in the 2017 Fall Classic. He hit .379 with eight extra-base hits - including five dingers - and a 1.000 slugging percentage to help Houston beat the Dodgers in seven games.
His final game as an astro came in the 2020 ALCS loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, and he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays that offseason. He’s now just one season away from spending as long in Toronto as he did in Texas, and he performed well against the Dodgers in the World Series once again in 2025 despite coming out on the losing end this time.
Like many Blue Jays, Springer has had a down year in 2026 and as a result Toronto is fighting for their playoff lives with about a week left in the regular season.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. If Toronto is able to snag one of the final Wild Card spots in the American League, few teams will want to face him and the Blue Jays after their run last year. With that being said, can you name every player to hit at least three home runs in a World Series?
Good luck!
