The '50-HR MLB seasons' quiz

The two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers begin the second-half of the 2026 season with a 2024 World Series rematch against the New York Yankees, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Shohei Ohtani on the mound.

Ohtani, who didn’t appear in this week’s All-Star game and hasn’t pitched since July 3 while dealing with knee and bicep issues, has still been DHing for the first-place Dodgers. So while the Yankees (who are trying to catch the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East) probably won’t miss out on Ohtani completely, their streaky bats won’t have to face his nasty stuff.

Ohtani is 8-2 in 14 starts as a pitcher this season, posting a miniscule 1.79 ERA in 85. 2/3 innings with 95 strikeouts, and has been productive as a hitter as well. In the seven games between his most recent start and the All-Star break, Ohtani has four home runs and driven in seven runs to finish the first half of the season with 22 dingers and 58 RBI with a .293 batting average.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Even if the Dodgers decide to limit Ohtani as a pitcher, he can more than contribute to another World Series with him as just a hitter. With that being said, can you name the MLB players with at least one 50 home run season?

Good luck!
