Kansas City Royals star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. played in his 700th-career game on Tuesday, but many fans outside of K.C. may not be aware of just how good he’s been so far in his career.
Despite a 6-4 loss to the Nationals, Witt went 3-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in his 700th MLB contest – making him the first player in baseball history to accumulate 100 home runs, 150 stolen bases and 35 triples in that span to start a career.
After finishing fourth in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2022, Witt has been the guy for the Royals. He hasn’t finished a season with a batting average below .276 since 2023, leading MLB with 11 triples that season and finishing first in doubles with 47 in 2025. In the seasons between, he finished with the No.1 batting average in baseball at .332 in 709 plate appearances.
He’s been a great defender as well, winning two Gold Gloves and the Platinum Glove in 2025.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. In just his fifth Big-League season, Witt Jr. is already one of just 18 players with multiple 30-HR/30-stolen base seasons. How many of those players can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
