The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the hottest teams in Major League Baseball as June begins. Winners of five straight, the Blue Jays return home Tuesday night to start a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Thanks to their recent surge, Toronto has climbed into second place in the American League East. The Blue Jays are now 31-28, chasing the first-place New Yok Yankees, who sit at 36-22.

A major reason for the hot streak is slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 26-year-old is riding a five-game hitting streak, collecting seven hits over that span and raising his season average to .283.

After Toronto’s four-game weekend sweep of the Athletics, Guerrero had a short but confident message:

"ON TO THE NEXT."

Toronto ranks in the middle of the pack in runs scored, averaging 4.2 per game. It is collecting 8.5 hits per contest and has launched 58 home runs over its first 59 games.

While Guerrero leads the team in batting average and homers with eight, Bo Bichette has also played well. He’s batting .277 with seven home runs and leads the team with 32 RBIs. Guerrero is second on the team with 28 RBIs.

Since debuting in 2019, Guerrero has carved out an impressive career. The son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr. is a four-time All-Star, won a Gold Glove in 2022 and earned the AL Hank Aaron Award in 2021. He also led the majors in home runs that season.

After the home series against the Phillies, the Blue Jays hit the road for a weekend series at Tampa Bay, followed by stops in St. Louis and Philadelphia.
