When will Tigers’ Justin Verlander make final career start?

Verlander, who is working his way back from a left hamstring strain, will throw a bullpen on Tuesday. He is expected to start the Tigers’ contest on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, which will be Detroit’s second to last game of the season.

Justin Verlander is one of the best starting pitchers in recent memory. Not only has he earned three Cy Young Awards during his career, but the right-handed hurler even won the 2011 American League MVP Award. He was the 2006 AL Rookie of the Year as well.

The pitcher spent most of his career with Detroit. He made his big league debut in 2005 and pitched with the Tigers until being traded to the Houston Astros in 2017. In addition to the Astros, Verlander spent time with the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants.

However, it is fitting that he will retire as a member of the Tigers. Although, he did win two World Series championships in Houston. Nevertheless, Tigers fans appreciate everything Verlander brought to the team during his time in Detroit.
