Wrigley Field to Host 2027 MLB All-Star Game

News broke Thursday that Major League Baseball has decided to make Wrigley Field the site for the 2027 MLB All-Star Game. While they have yet to officially come out with a statement announcing the decision, sources tell Bruce Levine of 670 The Score that Wrigley Field will be the site of the 2027 MLB All-Star Game. If Levine’s reporting is true it will be the first time the midsummer classic is played on the north side of Chicago since 1990.

As the 2025 MLB season chugs along, more fans are turning their attention to baseball. Kids are getting out of school, the weather is warming up, and everybody is getting excited for summer. One of the biggest spectacles of summer and the flagship moment for MLB is the All-Star Game. Players from around the league sacrifice their midseason vacation to put on a show in front of a national audience and unofficially start the race for October. With such a monumental event, MLB plans out in advance where the game and all of the All-Star break festivities will be held.

Later this summer, the Atlanta Braves will host the midsummer classic at Truist Park. The Philadelphia Phillies will host next year’s All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park. MLB has yet to announce who will get to play host in 2027, but reports have come out that indicate that it will be Wrigley Field and the Chicago Cubs who get the honor.

Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, a radio station in Chicago, has reported that Wrigley Field will host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game.  If true, this would be the first time Wrigley Field has hosted the All-Star Game since 1990.

Final Thoughts

Security concerns have been the primary obstacle for getting the midsummer classic into the friendly confines, but with Tom Ricketts, the owner and operator of the Chicago Cubs, opening up Wrigley Field to more non-baseball game events, they have improved aspects of their security operation. MLB decided that these improvements combined with reinforcements from the city of Chicago are suitable for dealing with everything that comes with hosting the All-Star Game. Levine says that an official announcement is expected to be made later this summer.
