Yankees announce Aaron Judge update after injury vs. Twins

The New York Yankees are now going to be without three-time American League MVP Aaron Judge once again.

Judge already missed 84 games as he was sidelined all of June, July and August with a rib injury. He was just activated and made his return on Sept. 8.

However, Judge left the game early on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins, and now the Yankees have announced that Judge will be on the 10-day IL beginning on Saturday.

Following Wednesday's game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone admitted he didn't know how serious Judge's injury was, and the team stated that he had right lower-leg tightness.

However, the official injury report said that he has a right calf strain. Judge is eligible to be reinstated for the final game of the season, but this is a huge blow to the Yankees.

Judge hit a home run on Monday against the Twins, his first since coming back from the IL.

A look at Aaron Judge's season so far

In total, Judge has played in just 66 games this season, hitting .241 with 18 home runs and 41 RBIs in an injury-riddled campaign.

The silver lining is that the Yankees already clinched a playoff spot. They trail the Tampa Bay Rays by five games in the American League East, so it's been an uphill battle to claim the division.

Heliot Ramos replaced Judge on Wednesday, and it will be worth watching to see what Boone does in Judge's absence.
