New York Yankees superstar outfielder Aaron Judge was announced as Team USA's captain for the upcoming World Baseball Classic in 2026. In the wake of this news, the Yankees sent a quick message to Judge on social media that caught the attention of fans everywhere.

Judge has emerged as one of the greatest hitters in MLB history over the past few seasons with New York, winning a pair of MVP Awards over the past two seasons. Now, he'll take his game to the international stage, as it was announced on Monday that he will be leading his country at the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

"Just getting a chance to represent this country, what this country means to me," Judge said when speaking about the WBC. "Honestly, every game, during the national anthem [and] 'God Bless America,' getting a chance to sit out there, for me it's a time to reflect about all the brave men and women that have fought for this country and given me the opportunity to step on a baseball field and play a game that I love."

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Judge was bestowed this honor considering all that he's accomplished over the past few years. Still, the Yankees made sure to congratulate their star slugger with a quick message on social media after the news was revealed.

"Our Captain. America's Captain. Congratulations to Aaron Judge for being named Team Captain for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic!" the Yankees said in a post on X.

Judge has gotten off to another hot start for the Yankees in 2025, as he's posted a .357 batting average while smacking six home runs and driving in 20 runs, with the latter two figures being tops in the majors.

The Yankees will kick off a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Monday night, with first pitch being scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Carlos Carrasco will get the ball for New York, while Seth Lugo will toe the rubber for Kansas City.
