The New York Yankees once again appear to be a top-tier World Series contender. At this point in the season, they hold a 42-26 record and a 4.5-game lead in the American League East division race.

With the trade deadline just a month and a half away, the Yankees could be a team to watch closely.

As is always the case, New York wants to win a championship. Last season, the team came up just short in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This Yankees team has a chance to take the next step and win it all.

In order to improve those chances, New York could use more offensive firepower.

Keeping that in mind, the Yankees have been urged to consider pursuing a blockbuster $66 million trade deadline move. That move would be for Arizona Diamondbacks' third baseman Eugenio Suarez.

ESPN's Brad Doolittle suggested that Suarez could be a potential perfect fit for New York.

"To stay there: They need more pitching for sure, though the Yankees have done a great job of piecing things together so far," Doolittle wrote. "A more impactful pickup might come from a power bat for third base, with Arizona's Eugenio Suarez leaping to mind as an ideal fit."

Suarez would be a very interesting target for the Yankees. He brings elite power to the plate and would help New York towards its goal of a World Series win.

Throughout the course of the 2025 MLB season thus far with the Diamondbacks, Suarez has played in 69 games. He has hit 19 home runs to go along with 52 RBI, while batting .230/.304/.508.

No one can predict the future, but Suarez would be an intriguing fit for the Yankees if they choose to pursue him before the deadline.
