The subject came up after Nina Drama mentioned that former heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder had tried ayahuasca. Marca reported that White said he already knew about it.
White then described what he has seen in people who have taken it.
“I know a ton of guys that have done ayahuasca, and they’re never the same after that,” White said, per both outlets.
He explained that those people seemed to become more loving or affectionate afterward, according to Marca. White did not name anyone in the published accounts.
Calfkicker shared the story on X.

When asked if he would ever try ayahuasca himself, White gave a firm no.
“Not in a million f***ing years,” White said, according to Marca. Calfkicker quoted the line without the expletive: “Not in a million years.”
Wilder has talked openly about his own use of the brew. Before his December 2023 fight with Joseph Parker, he told The Telegraph about the experience. The Independent quoted him from that interview: “Ah, man, ayahuasca has been… Man, it’s been one of the top things in my life that I’m glad that I’ve experienced.” The outlet reported that he took it at the Rythmia retreat in Costa Rica.
Wilder lost to Parker by decision on Dec. 23, 2023, in Riyadh. He talked about ayahuasca again at the post-fight press conference, per MMA Mania.
“I’ve done ayahuasca, I found a lot of peace in my life. I found a lot of happiness in my life,” Wilder said.
Ayahuasca is a brew traditionally made from the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and plants that contain DMT, a psychedelic compound. Reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, anxiety, a higher heart rate and higher blood pressure. It can also interact with other medications.
