Jon Jones suggests UFC move to heavyweight is on
UFC superstar Jon Jones had a busy Monday on Twitter.
Roughly an hour after Jones shocked the mixed martial arts community by tweeting that he has willingly vacated the UFC light heavyweight title, the 33-year-old returned to social media and said he and the promotion are working toward his return to the octagon as a heavyweight:
Just had a really positive conversation with @Ufc. Sounds like there will be negotiations for my next fight at heavy weight. All good news, the weight gaining process begins.

Back in May, Jones claimed that UFC boss Dana White wasn't willing to fund the all-time great's switch to the heavyweight division and a bout versus top contender Francis Ngannou.
White retorted that Jones "couldn’t be asking for a more absurd amount of money at a worse time" during the coronavirus pandemic that forced the promotion to temporarily pause its schedule in March and hold events behind closed doors and without fans since UFC 249 on May 9.
After Stipe Miocic successfully defended his heavyweight crown against Daniel Cormier on Saturday night, Jones took to Twitter to declare that he would soon be the top fighter in the division:
Avoid Stipe’s right hand, I’m too fast, I’ll be too strong when the time is right and have way too much energy. Soon and very soon I’ll be considered the baddest man on this planet

Following the pay-per-view, however, White told reporters that Ngannou is ahead of Jones among heavyweights. Jones likely won't compete unless a championship is on the line, so White may offer "Bones" to the winner of a currently unscheduled title match between Ngannou and Miocic.
It's unknown if Miocic will fight again in 2020.
Jones hasn't fought since he earned a controversial decision over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 on Feb. 8. Many observers and journalists scored the contest in favor of Reyes, who suffered the first loss of his pro career (12-1-0) that evening.

Jerry Jones says Cowboys have made one trade, possibly more to come
Per Jon Machota of The Athletic, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on SiriusXM that they have made a trade. Jones also said they could make a couple more moves before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. He said the player will be on the field immediately and implied it could be on the defensive side. “Immediately it will have him on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings,” Jones said. Jones, 83, bought the team from Bum Bright back in 1989 for $140M and has raised the value to $10B. Since purchasing the team, Jones has operated as owner, team president, and general manager. He replaced HC Tom Landry with Jimmy Johnson, and shortly after, the team won three Super Bowls in 1992, 1993, and 1995, respectively. In 2014, Jones was named the league’s Executive of the Year, and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.
NFL insider says the Commanders are now open to being sellers at NFL trade deadline, with two specific players in mind
The Washington Commanders' season is officially over after getting blown out by the Seattle Seahawks at home and losing quarterback Jayden Daniels with a gruesome elbow injury. The roster needs a complete makeover, and general manager Adam Peters has a lot of work to do this season. The season is still going on, however, and changes can be made right now with the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon. There's no doubt that the Commanders need to recoup as many draft picks as possible since they only have six picks right now, and one NFL insider says they are open to moving several players. The Commanders are open to trading Andrew Wylie or Nick Allegretti The Commanders don't have a lot of assets, but NFL insider Jordan Shultz reports that they are open to trading several players, including offensive linemen Andrew Wylie and Nick Allegretti. Teams need offensive linemen at the trade deadline, and they should have plenty of buyers who will be interested in either of the two. Wylie restructured his contract to remain in Washington and would likely fetch more draft capital between the two. He has shown that he can play at both tackle and guard, and a playoff team should be all over his availability. Allegretti is absolutely a guard, but he was also taking center reps at training camp, and could be a great piece to add with valuable experience in Washington and Kansas City. The Commanders spent a ton of draft capital on the offensive line between trading for Laremy Tunsil and drafting Josh Conerly Jr. in the first round, and the line is still struggling. There's no point in keeping both Wylie and Allegretti with Brandon Coleman back to being active, Sam Cosmi starting again, and Chris Paul becoming the starting left guard. These aren't the only players the Commanders could trade, though. Commanders need to trade whoever they can At this point in the season, the Commanders have to see who they won't be bringing back next year and try to collect picks at the deadline. This list would include Deebo Samuel, Noah Igbinoghene, Jonathan Jones, Jeremy McNichols, Chris Rodriguez, Bobby Wagner, and Zach Ertz. It should be an all-out fire sale at this point, and all free agents coming up should be shipped away for any draft capital you can get, because a majority of them shouldn't be back next season anyway.
