Former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad is open to fighting surging Canadian contender Mike Malott in Toronto next January.
Muhammad, who lost his 170-pound title to Shavkat Rakhmonov in July, told fans the matchup would make sense for both fighters, per MMA Mania. The former champion has been sidelined since that loss and appears ready to return in early 2027.
Malott has won four straight inside the octagon and is coming off a submission victory over Trevin Giles in August. The Canadian has finished three of those four wins and represents a potential breakout star for the promotion in his home country.
A Toronto booking would mark the first time Muhammad has fought in Canada. The 38-year-old went 10-0 in his title run before falling to Rakhmonov via fourth-round rear-naked choke at UFC 310 in Las Vegas.
UFC has not announced a Toronto date for early 2027, though the promotion typically runs at least one card per year in Canada. No official talks between the two camps have been reported.
