‘Not A Single Word Is True’: Chael Sonnen Shuts Down Conor McGregor vs Jake Paul

According to  Chael Sonnen , Conor McGregor (0-1) might just be lying.

‘Notorious’ revealed that he was in preliminary talks with India’s conglomerate dynasty, the Ambanis, for an exhibition showdown against Logan Paul (1-1) in the country. While the fight has undoubtedly created a buzz, many are skeptical about the probability of the fight. In fact, Sonnen is confident that none of McGregor’s words about the fight are true.

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Sonnen did not hold back from bashing the entire premise of the potential fight.

“There is a very big, former champion that’s a star of the mixed martial arts, his name is Conor McGregor. He is claiming that he’s going to get $250 million to go box Logan Paul in India for a billionaire investor who wants to bring attention and tourism to India,” he said. “Not a single word is true.”

He mentioned that it was the responsibility of the government to bring an event of such a scale into the country and not that of an individual. “There is not a billionaire in India looking to bring people over and change tourism. That is something exclusively done by a government and that government has done it in one place, which is in the Middle East. And third, there’s no cheque for 250 million dollars, so he kind of went right down the list of joking. He’s kidding. You’re not supposed to believe any of that to be true,” he said.

However, it should be added that the Ambanis have a noticeable level of repute and influence over the local government. So, the fight might not be out of the realm of possibility.

“Much Like Ali”

Meanwhile, the potential fight sure has the blessings of Mike Tyson’s former coach, Teddy Atlas. Comparing McGregor to Ali, Atlas credited him with bringing in major paydays to the world of MMA.

“He brought the sport to a different level of paydays, much like Ali did in boxing. Crossing over with sports, Ali did that with Inoki, if my memory serves me correctly,” he said. “Ali was in hospital for like a week with bloody clots in his legs, but he got $7 million. $7 million back then was unheard of; it was like if you got $100 million.”
