Tsarukyan Submits Bainpuriya In Grappling Bout
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Connect

Arman Tsarukyan made quick work of Indian fitness influencer Ankit Bainpuriya in a submission-only grappling match Friday at Hype FC in Armenia.

The UFC lightweight contender repeatedly dumped Bainpuriya to the mat before locking in an armbar finish two and a half minutes into the bout, according to Sherdog. While Bainpuriya commands a large social media following, he has no formal combat sports background. He trained wrestling briefly in Dagestan ahead of the contest but was outclassed by the ranked lightweight.

Tsarukyan Stays Active Outside UFC

Tsarukyan has not competed in the Octagon since submitting Dan Hooker last November. Despite being considered the top lightweight title contender by many observers, he has yet to secure a championship bout. He recently indicated news of his next UFC assignment will come soon.

The Armenian has kept busy on the grappling circuit, primarily at Real American Freestyle, where he holds a 7-1 record. His lone loss came against Colby Covington in a recent upset. Previous RAF wins include finishes over Urijah Faber and Tony Ferguson.

Tsarukyan is expected to announce his next UFC appearance in the coming weeks.
