Daniel Suarez signs contract extension with Trackhouse Racing

Daniel Suarez's future with Trackhouse Racing is now secure, at least for a little bit longer.

The 32-year-old driver from Monterrey, Mexico has signed a contract extension with Trackhouse. Suarez is a two-time Cup Series winner with Trackhouse, with his most recent victory coming in February at Atlanta.

"Trackhouse is home to me, and I have enjoyed every minute I have been here," Suarez said in a team release, per nascar.com. "We plan to keep working, growing and winning more races. We can only do that with the support of my Amigos and Amigas at Freeway Insurance. They have backed me for the last several years and we have grown close with their customers and employees."

While Suarez's 2024 season has fallen slightly short of expectations, his win at Atlanta earlier in the year guarantees him a berth in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. In the Brickyard 400, Suarez collected his fourth top-10 effort of the year with an eighth-place finish, marking the best run for Suarez and the No. 99 team since Iowa on June 16.

As the Cup Series returns to action this weekend at the Richmond Raceway, Suarez will look to improve on his 22nd-place result at Richmond earlier in the season. With the No. 99 team looking for a momentum boost before the postseason begins on Sept. 8, a solid day in Richmond could be the start of a late summer run.

The deal being signed also gives Suarez the freedom to completely focus on racing, rather than his future with the team.

The exact terms of Suarez's extension have not been released.

Suarez will join the rest of the Cup Series field at Richmond this weekend in the 23rd race of the 2024 season. Practice for the Cup Series starts at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, with qualifying at 5:35 p.m. ET.

The Cook Out 400 from Richmond will go green shortly after 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage on USA Network, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
