Scoring 60 points in an NBA game is a very impressive accomplishment that only the league's best scorers can achieve. While point totals are rising in the NBA, and 60-point games are becoming more common, there are still only a few players who can reach the 60-point mark each season.
The 2023-24 season had seven players score 60 or more in a game, including two rare 70-point games from Luka Doncic and Joel Embiid. The number of players that reached 60 dropped down to only two players in the last 2024-25 season, as Nikola Jokic and De'Aaron Fox were the only players able to do so.
It's uncertain how many 60-point games we'll get this year, but with the amount of superstar talent in the NBA, as well as high-powered offenses, we'll most likely get at least a few.
Here are the top 10 players who are most likely to score 60 or more in a game for the 2025-26 NBA season. Honorable mentions go to Victor Wembanyama, Kevin Durant, and Trae Young.
Cade Cunningham's career high is only 43 points at this point in his career, but he has the talent for a breakout scoring explosion. His 26.1 points per game last season were good for the 7th best in the league, and it will likely increase next season as Cade continues to improve.
As the leader of the Pistons’ offense, he has the ball in his hands constantly and can score at all three levels. His size and craft allow him to create shots over smaller guards, while his playmaking keeps defenses honest.
Detroit’s improving floor spacing should give him more driving lanes and isolation opportunities, meaning if he gets hot from deep and in the midrange, a big night is possible. A 60-point game would be a massive leap for him, but the usage and talent are aligned for it to happen.
Donovan Mitchell is one of the NBA’s purest scoring guards, and he’s already proven he can exceed the 60-point mark, as he shockingly dropped 71 points against the Bulls in 2023. That performance was an anomaly for him since his next highest scoring game was only 46 points, but still, he's proven he can do it.
His explosive first step, deep shooting range, and ability to finish through contact while drawing fouls make him hard to guard when he’s in rhythm. His 71-point game in 2023 came with 25 free throw attempts, so if he's to go for 60 this next season, he'll have to get to the line.
He would be higher on this list if the Cavaliers weren't such a well-rounded team. Mitchell's PPG averages have dropped from 28.3 PPG in 2023 to just 24.0 PPG in 2025 because he hasn't needed to carry the Cavs' offense as much as he used to.
With multiple other scoring options outside of Mitchell, it's doubtful he'll need to take enough shots to reach 60 points in a game. Still, he's proven he can produce massive scoring nights when he needs to, so he's the 9th most likely in the NBA to drop 60 in a game for next season.
Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history and one of the greatest scorers of all time.
He has dropped 60 points in a game twice in his career: in 2021 against the Trail Blazers and in 2024 against the Hawks. With how unstoppable his three-point shooting is, he can reach high-scoring totals at an extremely fast pace when he gets hot from deep.
The only issue that decreases the chance of Curry scoring 60 next season is his age. He's now 37 years old and will turn 38 next March. He's still playing at an elite level, but his average points per game has been decreasing over the last three seasons.
The oldest player to score 60+ points in a game was Kobe Bryant in the last game of his career. He was 37 years and 234 days old when he did it on April 13th, 2016. If Steph Curry were to score 60 this season, he could potentially become the oldest player in NBA history to reach that mark.
It would be incredible to witness Curry reach another 60-point game. He's proven he can do it in the past, but his age might limit him from having such a dominant scoring performance.
Jalen Brunson has quickly established himself as one of the NBA’s premier scoring guards and the heart of the New York Knicks' offense.
Brunson's current career high stands at 61 points in a game against the Spurs in March of 2024. He has shown the ability to pile up points in a hurry, especially during the 2024 playoffs when he had multiple 40+ point games and carried the Knicks offensively. His scoring craft is built on elite footwork, midrange mastery, and a knack for finishing at the rim despite not being the most athletic player on the floor.
What makes Brunson a legitimate 60-point threat is his combination of efficiency and usage. He thrives in isolation, can draw fouls at a high rate, and has the green light to take over when his shot is falling. The Knicks rely heavily on him to initiate offense, and when his jumper, drives, and free-throw opportunities are all clicking, the scoring ceiling is sky-high.
At 28 years old, Brunson is in the middle of his prime and has a good shot at reaching 60 or more points in a game next season.
Anthony Edwards has the skills, confidence, and stamina to deliver a 60-point masterpiece. His career-high came last January, when he dropped 53 points with 10 three-pointers made against the Pistons. He definitely has the ability to increase that number by at least seven points this next season.
As the clear offensive leader of the Timberwolves, Edwards has the green light to hunt his shot, and his relentless mentality means he’ll keep attacking until the final buzzer. If he strings together a hot shooting night from deep with his usual rim assaults and trips to the free-throw line, a 60-point game is well within his reach.
Devin Booker will have the ball in his hands a lot more this next season as he'll be playing point guard for the Suns. He'll also be relied upon to score more often with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal gone. The only other consistent shot creator and scorer on the Suns roster is Jalen Green, so Booker will likely average over 20 shot attempts per game.
Booker has scored 60+ twice in his career. He scored 62 points against the Pacers in 2024 and 70 points vs the Celtics in 2017. This season is shaping up to be another good season for him to reach 60, as he's 28 years old and the leader of the Suns' offense.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the best scorer in the NBA right now, but he's not first on this list because of how good the OKC Thunder are.
If Shai is having a great night, it's likely the Thunder are already blowing out their opponent by the time Shai reaches 50 points. That would mean Shai would be pulled out of the game in the 4th quarter and wouldn't have an opportunity to get to 60 points. This was the case for a few of Shai's high-scoring games last season.
Regardless, if the Thunder are in a close game and Shai is needed to provide scoring for OKC the entire game, he definitely has the scoring ability to drop 60 in a game. While he hasn't done it yet, he had four 50-point games last season, so it's very possible he reaches 60 points in a game during next season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has always been a dominant scorer, but this season he may have more reason than ever to push his offensive limits.
With the Bucks’ supporting cast thinner than in recent years, Giannis will be asked to shoulder a large portion of the scoring load. Without a great secondary scoring option like his former teammates Damian Lillard or Khris Middleton, the offense will run through him even more.
His only career 60-point game came against the Pacers in 2023. In that game, he shot 71.4% from the field and attempted a blasphemous 32 free throws. Most players who have scored 60 in a game need the three-pointer to help them get there, but Giannis can do it strictly from the paint and the free-throw line.
Nikola Jokic isn't known for dominant scoring, but he's currently the best scoring center in the NBA. Last season, he averaged a career-high 29.6 points per game, which included an incredible 61-point game in April against the Timberwolves.
Next season, Jokic will be coming back to a similar Nuggets squad and the same role as last season. 60-point games are rare, but he's an all-time great player who has achieved this mark before. We think the chances he'll score a 60+ point game in this upcoming season will be about 40-50%.
Luka Doncic is stepping into his first full season with the Lakers, and the signs are pointing to it being his best season yet.
Now the clear face of the Lakers after taking the torch from LeBron James, Luka will have the stage, the roster control, and the offensive freedom to dominate on his terms. This offseason, he’s reportedly slimmed down and improved his conditioning, which should only make his already unstoppable game even harder to defend.
Luka’s scoring versatility is unmatched. He can punish smaller guards in the post, hit deep step-back threes, and control the tempo to get any other shot he wants. The Lakers will likely be leaning more on him now to drive their offense as LeBron is getting older, meaning Luka will have the ball in his hands more, leading to more scoring opportunities for himself.
Luka has already had two 60-point games in his career, in 2022 and 2024. Against the Hawks in 2024, he had one of the greatest scoring and efficiency performances in NBA history with 73 points on 75.8% FG.
With the combination of a bigger offensive role, improved fitness, and a track record of producing historic scoring nights, Luka enters this season as the league’s most dangerous threat to reach 60+ points in a game.
