2 members of Knicks championship organization heading elsewhere

The New York Knicks are poised to bring back most of their championship core next season, save for Mitchell Robinson, who signed with the rival Boston Celtics in free agency. However, on Tuesday, the Knicks learned that two members of last season’s Finals-winning organization will be headed elsewhere.

The first domino fell when a member of the bench departed in free agency.

“NEWS: Free agent center Trey Jemison and Toronto Raptors have reached an agreement on a two-way contract, league sources tell me. The NBA champ finds a new home,” reported NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report on X, formerly Twitter.

Jemison signed with the Knicks on a two-way contract prior to last season and split time between the NBA team and the Westchester Knicks of the G-League throughout the season.

Also, it was announced that vice president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas would be leaving the organization as well.

“Fulfilling the vision of bringing a championship back to New York after 53 years is a legacy I’ll always be proud to have helped build. Being part of assembling a team that represented the city, connected with its fans, and brought people together was one of the most meaningful and cherished parts of this journey,” wrote Rosas in part on Instagram.

Rosas was a member of a front office that helped build a juggernaut over the last few years in New York, pulling off daring trades for OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges, which all paid off with this past season’s championship run.

No team has won two straight championships since the Golden State Warriors did so nearly a decade ago, so now, the challenge will be even tougher for New York as they attempt to repeat next season.
