The San Antonio Spurs enter the 2025-26 NBA season looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs for the sixth straight season last year.
Of course, the Spurs have built a solid core led by Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle and they also made some notable additions to their roster this offseason.
San Antonio selected both Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant in the first round of the draft, signed Luke Kornet in free agency and acquired Kelly Olynyk from the Washington Wizards via a trade.
With these moves, along with Wembanyama coming back healthy, the Spurs have high expectations entering the new season as they try to end their playoff drought.
San Antonio could also look to make more moves ahead of the trade deadline to bolster their roster and if that is the case, these three players could be potential trade candidates.
Devin Vassell was one of the first key pieces of the Spurs’ rebuild after they selected him 11th overall in the 2020 draft.
Despite this, the 25-year-old guard has flew under the radar over the last few seasons as Wembanyama, Fox and Castle have gained most of the attention, though Vassell has still played a key role on both ends of the court for the Spurs.
While that may be the case, Vassell could draw interest ahead of the trade deadline this season or San Antonio could use him in a trade package to go and land another star to add to their roster.
Like Vassell, Keldon Johnson was also one of San Antonio’s first key pieces during their rebuild, though he has been in trade rumors over the last few seasons after being moved to the bench.
The 25-year-old forward is a solid scorer and defender who brings a ton of fight to the Spurs on both ends of the court, though he could draw interest from other teams this season.
Despite this, it is likely that the only way the Spurs move Johnson, like Vassell, is in a trade package to pair another star next to Wembanyama.
After being acquired by the Spurs last summer in the trade that sent DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls to the Sacramento Kings, Harrison Barnes played a key role for the Spurs.
The 33-year-old forward started all 82 games for the Spurs last season and was a key veteran leader for them.
Despite this, San Antonio could look to move him this season ahead of the deadline to free up playing time for their young players and he could draw attention from multiple contending teams.
While the Spurs could move these three players, they may elect to keep their current core together and make a run at a playoff spot this season unless they end up targeting another star player to add to their roster.
