The Boston Celtics and young Center Luka Garza agreed on a two-year $5.5 million contract on Monday evening. He is coming off a season with the Minnesota Timberwolves where he did not receive much playing time. Garza averaged 3.5 points and 1.4 rebounds during the regular season. Will he find his footing with the Boston Celtics?

Garza comes to a Celtics team that will look much different. Boston is looking to shed salary this offseason. They have begun that process. They traded away two key players from their 2024 championship team, Point Guard Jrue Holiday and big man Kristaps Porzingis.
Boston reportedly may not be done stripping down their roster. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White are also on the trading block. The Celtics may also be losing veteran Center Al Horford. He has been linked to the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics will be a team next season fighting for a play-in berth, not an NBA championship.
Following a standout college career, Garza has never found his niche in the National Basketball Association. He hopes his time in Boston will help him find a place where he belongs. If Horford departs in free agency, it will open up a bigger spot for Garza. He will look to advantage of his opportunities with the Celtics.
