Caleb Wilson draws interesting comparison from NBA analyst

Following the 2026 NBA Summer League, Chicago Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson drew a lot of praise for his performance. Every time he played it felt like must-watch for Bulls fans as not only did they get to watch their new rookie for the first time but he showcased his skill-set.

There’s a lot to like from Wilson’s Summer League debut and he’s earning some impressive comparisons already. Some have compared him to Kevin Garnett and even the legend himself called him the “Little Ticket.”

But now, there’s a new comparison that should have Bulls fans excited.

The latest comparison for Wilson comes from longtime writer, podcaster and NBA analyst Bill Simmons. On the Thursday’s episode of his podcast on The Ringer, Simmons compared Wilson to fomrer NBA star Tracy McGrady.

“I was on the record as saying I thought Caleb Wilson was the most undervalued guy at the draft, even at four,” Simmons said. “I think there was a real case to just trade back, and he might be the best player anyway, which I don’t ever normally feel that way with a draft. And he comes in and he hits threes…I gotta say, he looked very TMac-ish to me, that was the (comparison) that jumped out to me.”

“This is like watching TMac again.”

That’s a pretty damn good comparison for Wilson this early in his career. As Simmons mentioned, he’s always been high on Wilson and believes he could be the best player in this class when it’s all said and done.

McGrady had a lengthy career, playing 15 years in the NBA and appearing in 938 games. He finished in the Top 10 in MVP voting six times and made two NBA All-First Teams in his career.

If Wilson is like McGrady or even Garnett, it feels like the Bulls really could have a superstar on their hands.
