The Los Angeles Lakers fans are on cloud nine at the moment. Having defeated the Houston Rockets in game 1, the team has now successfully extended its lead to 2-0. In what was another impressive showing from LeBron James , JJ Redick’s team won 101-94. However, in what became a highlight moment, Alperen Sengun and Luka Doncic had a hilarious exchange.

As the Rockets were trailing, a lot of responsibilities were on young Sengun’s shoulders. During a moment in the game, the 23-year-old star attempted a pump fake as he tried to nail a three-pointer. However, as Doncic was sitting ringside, the Slovenian star did not seem to be impressed by Sengun’s trickery. Swaying his hands away, the Lakers’ icon shrugged off the moment, which instantly became viral.

Coming to the game, the Rockets got a reinforcement as Kevin Durant, who missed the last game, returned. Unfortunately, that did very little to make the Rockets look like a team worthy of winning. While Durant played his part, top-scoring with 23 points for his team, the rest of the team faltered. Logging in for 35 minutes, Sengun dropped 20 points in a losing cause.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the Turkish star has made the headlines in the postseason. Sengun’s respectful gesture towards King James went viral instantly. Later on, he cleared the air with a simple explanation.

Why Did Alperen Sengun Stand Up After Spotting LeBron James?

Ahead of game 1, the 23-year-old star could be spotted sitting and watching his cellphone. But as soon as he spotted the Lakers’ legend walking by, Sengun stood up hastily as a sign of respect. Well, that was what the viral narrative was going around. But the reality, as per the Rockets’ star, was simple.

I just saw that video today. Everybody was sending it to me. I was just trying to get something out of my pocket; that’s why I got up. No disrespect to LeBron, of course, but I didn’t stand up for him. It was just something I was getting out of my pocket,” Sengun said.

Thus, with things looking a bit off for the Rockets, all eyes will be on whether they can make a comeback.
