You’ve heard the hottest of the NBA rumors of this offseason. They center on Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and where he’ll end up next. For the record, it’s highly doubtful his next team will be the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Or is it?
NBA insider Brian Windhorst made it sound like a possibility during an appearance on ESPN Cleveland, simply by repeating one phrase over and over again.
“I don’t think they’re involved now,” Windhorst said of the Cavs and the Durant talks.
When asked to clarify, he simply repeated the phrase: “I don’t think they’re involved now.”
When asked if the Cavs could get involved as a third team in a Durant deal, Windhorst repeated the phrase a third time.
That’s all Windhorst said, but a lot of people are taking it as if he meant that the Cavs could get involved. Hey, that’s just how the Internet works.
Not the answer I was expecting at all. Would you want the Cavs trading for Durant?? https://t.co/Ox9cLIH2cb

Durant is reportedly widely available. He’s been linked to the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and a few others. The Cavs? Not so much.
Last week, a source told Hoops Wire that the Cavaliers were not interested in a Durant trade. The source did not say if the Cavs would be interested in being a third-team facilitator in such a deal. (Probably because the source was not asked.)
So far now, the Cavs are involved in some trade talks, just not those involving Durant. We think. We also suspect it will stay that way.
As an aside, a league source told Hoops Wire that Durant prefers the Suns trade him to the Spurs so he can play with All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox.
