Believe it or not, Michael Jordan will actually take on a broadcasting role with NBC.
The NBA is returning to the NBC this year as part of an 11-year agreement. Games will be nationally televised on NBC and streamed on Peacock. In order to make sure its coverage is top-notch, the network went out and got the greatest player of all time.
Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, has agreed to be a special contributor for NBC's coverage of the 2025-26 season. The network announced this shocking news earlier this week.
"I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC," Jordan said. "The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October."
This announcement generated so much buzz that even TNT analyst Charles Barkley talked about it.
During an appearance on the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast this week, Barkley shared his thoughts on Jordan working with NBC. He admit that he doesn't expect Jordan to do a ton of work next season.
"I have no idea what Michael is going to do," Barkley said. "I don’t think he’s going to do a lot. I know he’s not going to do a lot. I was 100 percent shocked, but I don’t think he’s going to do a lot. Period."
Most NBA fans tend to agree with Barkley on this one.
Jordan will join a team at NBC that'll include Carmelo Anthony, Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller among others.
