Who does not love a good reunion story? In this case, the instance could even be referred to as a redemption arc.
There was a major NBA report dropped by Shams Charania today with regard to the Boston Celtics. Based off the intel given, several other teams could stand to benefit from the Celtics' expected offseason decision.
One of those teams could be the New York Knicks.
Charania dropped some bombshell news stating that once this offseason rolls around, the Celtics will be looking to sell some pieces of the roster.
"Right now, Boston is fully focused on winning a championship. ... But I can tell you, the rest of the league is bracing for some level of change to come to the Celtics from their roster this offseason.
Sources have been telling me for weeks now that the Celtics will be exploring trade options in the offseason. This team, this iteration just is not going to be sustainable for this team. ...
They have five players right now scheduled to make $28 million or more next season. That's a league record. They would have a salary bill of $500 million. That would be league history amount.
I think the Celtics knew when they traded for Jrue Holliday and they traded for Kristaps Porzingis, they'd be staring at this in the face this summer."
-Shams Charania
If you're Knicks management, bringing back Porzingis would be a funny move on the surface level, but one that may ultimately make sense.
New York has been looking to bolster the frontcourt for some time and oddly enough, Porzingis fits extremely well with the type of mold in a player they would be looking for.
This would likely need to be a multi-team trade with players getting rerouted to several destinations. However, it is certainly an obtainable move if the Knicks want to go that route and steal from their rivals in the offseason.
