The Houston Rockets host the Los Angeles Lakers this Sunday for Game 4, facing elimination as they trail 3-0 in the series.

Expectations had been higher for Houston, especially with the Lakers missing Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, yet the series has unfolded in one-sided fashion.

Uncertainty around Kevin Durant’s availability has only added to the concern, with ESPN reporter David McMenamin shedding light on a potentially troubling situation.

McMenamin revealed that clarity around Durant’s condition remains limited, even among his own teammates, following a recent media session.

He explained: “Amen Thompson was asked about an hour ago, ‘How KD is feeling?’ And he said, ‘To be honest with you, I don’t know.’

“But whether that means KD has been doing all of his rehab away from the team, or the team hasn’t really necessarily been checking in on him. That’s another dynamic to look for as we head towards tip off.”

Both scenarios raised by McMenamin generate questions about cohesion and preparation, particularly with the Rockets in a must-win situation where clarity and alignment are crucial.

Durant has featured in only one of the three games so far, but his impact in that appearance underlined his importance to the team’s chances.

He finished as Houston’s top scorer in their 101-94 Game 2 defeat, recording 23 points and providing a level of offensive stability that has otherwise been missing.

As Game 4 approaches, uncertainty around Durant’s recovery continues to shape the narrative, leaving Houston’s playoff hopes hanging in the balance.
