The Detroit Pistons have been the surprise team in the NBA this season and they have also been one of the hottest teams in the league over the past month.
Detroit has won seven of their last 10 games and currently sit sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.
Of course, this is a major change from the past two seasons when the Pistons finished with the NBA’s worst record.
While Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren will get most of the attention for Detroit’s strong season thus far, their trade deadline addition of Dennis Schroder has also played a key role.
In Sunday’s victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Schroder reached a new career milestone as he reached 4,000 career assists.
After the win, Schroder made a two-word statement about his new milestone on Monday.
“THATS TUFF,” Schroder posted on X after reaching 4,000 career assists.

Of course, it has been an interesting season thus far for Schroder. The 31-year-old guard began the season with the Brooklyn Nets and he was then traded to the Golden State Warriors to give them another reliable guard next to Stephen Curry.
Schroder was then sent to the Pistons ahead of the trade deadline in the blockbuster five-team trade that saw Jimmy Butler go from the Miami Heat to the Warriors.
Despite being traded twice this season and playing for three different teams, Schroder has continued to put together a great season and he has played a key role in Detroit’s success since he arrived in early February.
In 12 games for the Pistons, the 31-year-old is averaging 9.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 40.2% from the field and 31.1% from three-point range off the bench.
Schroder has continued to prove that he is one of the most reliable veteran guards in the NBA and he will now look to add to career assists total on Tuesday when Detroit hosts the Washington Wizards.
