The Golden State Warriors are coming off a tough loss to the Houston Rockets in Game 2 of their first round series on Wednesday night.
Of course, the major storyline during the game for Golden State was the health of their superstar forward Jimmy Butler, who exited the game late in the first quarter due to a pelvic contusion after taking a hard fall on a rebound attempt.
With Butler sidelined and Brandin Podziemski limited due to an illness, the Warriors were unable to grab a 2-0 lead as they fell to Houston despite a great game from Stephen Curry.
Golden State’s next game comes on Saturday but their star forward Draymond Green had a chance to add another trophy to his collection on Thursday night when the NBA announced the winner of this season’s Defensive Player of the Year award.
Unfortunately for Green, voting did not go his way as Cleveland Cavaliers’ star Evan Mobley was announced as the winner of the award.

Green came in third in voting behind the other finalist, Dyson Daniels of the Atlanta Hawks, who came in second.
This is a disappointing result for Green who had another incredible season on the defensive end of the court, but was unable to win his second career Defensive Player of the Year award.
Green averaged 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game this season while posting a defensive rating of 108.6, which was the best of any starter on the Warriors this season.
Of course, Mobley also had a stellar season defensively for the Cavaliers, who finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference.
This season, Mobley averaged 9.3 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.6 blocks per game while posting a defensive rating of 108.3, which trailed only Jarrett Allen for the best on the Cavaliers.
Despite not winning the award, Green has still played a major role on the defensive, an offensive, side of the ball this season for the Warriors as they chase yet another championship this season.
