Even though he doesn’t play anymore, Dwyane Wade still has his heart set on the Miami Heat. Meaning he has the liberty to talk about them however he sees fit.

Recently, Wade has received criticism for allegedly “walking back” his claim that the Heat lack the spark he helped engineer in his playing days and for being impatient. Their time will come when they are ready.

But then, fans criticized him for that.

However, Wade is emphatically refuting those claims, per Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

“In my last conversation, when I talked about them staying kind of how patient the Heat are and they will strike when they’re ready, some people say I walked it back a little bit. And it was like, did someone get to me?” Wade said. “No, no one’s got to me.”

Essentially, Wade has called out the Heat front office for a switch in standards. They had gone from possessing a championship mindset to simply contenting for a spot in the play-in tournament.

The Heat made it to the play-in tournament against the Charlotte Hornets and lost.

Meanwhile, Wade is tapping into his own personal history, where he learned that patience is a virtue.

“I’ve been a player on a roster that was impatient, ready to go — because I know that my basketball life only has so much in it,” Wade said of his Heat tenure. “I’m like, ‘Yo, let’s strike, let’s strike,’ and they was like, eh, ‘No, let’s wait.’

Wade won three NBA championships (2006, 2012, and 2013) with the Heat.
