Fans savagely pick on Warriors amid crazy offseason

The Golden State Warriors went all in but still lost out on LeBron James in free agency after he chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Warriors were aggressive in pursuing James, including reportedly considering a trade with the Washington Wizards to bring in Anthony Davis to entice the four-time MVP to move to the Bay Area.

Now, the Warriors are back to square one. Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler are expected to make a full recovery for the upcoming season, but the team did not retool the roster. They also lost Quinten Post and Pat Spencer, a pair of well-liked players, to the Toronto Raptors and the Phoenix Suns, respectively.

ESPN’s Rachel Nichols reposted a graphic on X showing that while the majority of the league has made moves in what has been a busy offseason, Golden State has accumulated, um, nothing. Well, at least for now.

Fans roasted the Warriors for their zero haul.

“You have three injury-prone old players. Enjoy your future, Warriors, of being mediocre at best,” said @Sportsman144.

“Joe ‘Light Years’ Lacob, SMH. Wasting half a decade of Steph being a top 5-10 all-time player,” added @jsolis007.

“The front office will look at this as a badge of honor,” commented @iamgarrity1.

“Same old-a** roster,” stated @r_mack.

“Best shooter ever and they don’t even deserve him (Curry). Nothing to help the man at all since KD (Kevin Durant) left,” wrote @dannydope.

“Second year of this in a row. IN A ROW,” lamented @z_strick.

Golden State also made a run at Giannis Antetokounmpo, but lost him to the Miami Heat.

The team will have the familiar core of Curry, Butler, Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and Al Horford.

The Warriors added Yaxel Lendeborg and Lajae Jones with the No. 11 pick and the No. 52 pick, respectively, in the NBA Draft.

They also re-signed coach Steve Kerr to a two-year extension.
